A.Bar 1737 Walnut Street,NE Corner, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Paul MacDonald, aka express_and_discard on Instagram, hard at work on his next craft cocktail creation. His passion is palpable in his careful concoctions…

Located near Philadelphia’s gorgeous Rittenhouse Square, A Bar is highly prized for its extensive wine list, as well as carefully crafted libations by head Bartender Paul Macdonald. Follow him on instagram @express_and_discard for his awesome recipes (often cleverly based on the Fibbonaci sequence) and beautiful imagery.   He claims he is not the photographer in the family (his wife is) but I beg to differ.   Check him, and A Bar, out …

Jack Rose’s Glorious Wall of Whisk(e)y

Swoon!  Jack Rose’s impressive whisk(e)y collection performs double duty as the Saloon’s decor – if you love whisk(e)y, your heart will skip a beat, race, then melt when you glimpse the panoramic view of beautiful bottles.  Oh, Jack Rose, how I love thee!  If you’re in the District, check them out…

Smoke & Barrel 2471 18th Street, N.W.Washington, D.C. 20009

Behind the Bar at Smoke & Barrel.

I had the pleasure of going to Smoke & Barrel for  a Macallan Whisky tasting event.   I sat at the corner of the bar, which gave me a great view of the event attendees and the bar.  Although their tagline is Beer *BBQ*Bourbon, they also have a selection of single malt Scotch and Rye whiskey, as well.  On bustling 18th Street in Adams Morgan – it’s a great option if the volume (spirits selection AND people) at Jack Rose is too intense for you.
